DAILY EXPRESS AWARDS CITROËN’S C3 PICASSO ‘BEST FAMILY CAR’ HONOUR

C3

Citroën’s C3 Picasso has been named ‘Best Family Car’ of 2009 by the Daily Express’ Motoring team.

Seeing off competition from the Skoda Yeti to take the coveted ‘Motoring Oscar’, Citroën’s innovative MPV – the biggest small car on the road – impressed the judges with its compact, purposeful exterior, combined with plentiful internal storage and flexible seating arrangement.

This latest accolade comes at the end of a hugely successful year for the C3 Picasso, adding to five awards already under its belt from the likes of Auto Express, Top Gear and What Diesel.

The Daily Express, said, “The new C3 Picasso is a great family alternative to the new breed of cross-overs. Better still, it’s well built and excellent to drive too. Forget just winning in this category, the C3 Picasso was one of the best cars of 2009, period.”

207 HDi

Two new engines added to the Peugeot 207 Verve range
Three new exciting colours – Aluminium, Shark Grey and Moroccan Red
Available in three and five door hatchback
From £12,330.62 on-the-road
The popular Peugeot 207 Verve will be available with two new engine options and in three new exciting exterior colours, from January 2010.

The Peugeot 207 Verve, currently available with a 1.4 litre 8v 75 bhp petrol and 1.4 litre HDi 70 diesel engines, will be joined by a new 1.4 VTi 95 bhp petrol and 1.6 HDi 90 diesel engine, in January 2010.

To highlight the added ‘Verve’, three new exterior body colours are also introduced to the range. Five colours are now available with the introduction of Aluminium, Shark Grey and Moroccan Red to the already available, Flamenco Red and Onyx Black.

The popularity of the 207 Verve is due to its comprehensive standard equipment, which includes: Power steering, driver airbag, passenger airbag, side airbag, remote control central locking with deadlocks, three rear three point seat belts, 2/3 – 1/3 split folding rear seat, adjustable front head restraints, steering column adjustable for reach and rake, stereo radio / single CD player, driver seat height adjustment, ABS, EBFD, EBA, electric air inlet flap (HDi models only), body coloured door handles / body side mouldings, chrome insert to gear knob, lion grey interior door handles, white instrument dials, trip computer, electrically operated / heated door mirrors, manual air-conditioning, 15” Monaco alloy wheels, front fog lights, Verve badges and interior floor mats…

For music lovers the new 207 Verve is also fitted as standard with Peugeot Connect USB with Bluetooth. This system enables a Bluetooth compatible mobile phone to be paired with the car. Once paired, the phone can be operated via the remote controls on the steering column. High-quality telephone communications can, therefore, be carried out in complete safety using both the car’s speakers and inbuilt microphone.

The system also includes a USB Box which consists of a connection box located in the centre console with a USB connector and jack socket, all protected by a hinged cover. Once connected, an MP3 player or an iPod can be operated via the radio controls or controls under the steering wheel, with the units screen information also shown on the car’s multi-function display.

The unit is also capable of “streaming” music via the Bluetooth function, making it possible to play recorded music from the memory of a Bluetooth phone or from a portable music player equipped with a Bluetooth module

To help maximise the fuel efficiency of the 207 Verve, the Euro 5 1.4 litre 8v 75 bhp model is also fitted with a Gear Shift indicator (GSI).

This feature helps the driver to adopt a more economical driving style by indicating the optimal gear to be selected, thereby ensuring the lowest possible fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The indicator is located in the odometer and consists of a rising vertical arrow indicating the best time to change gear. The driver, however, is responsible for following the system’s indications.

The best gear, or “target gear” is determined according to a number of parameters.

Vehicle speed
Gear engaged
Engine temperature and engine speed
Driving style (position of the accelerator pedal determines the sought-after level of performance)
The indicator arrow remains visible until the driver follows the suggested recommendation.

The 207 Verve range starts at an on-the-road price of £12,330.62 for the three door 1.4 litre 8v Euro 5 petrol model.

HAVING A SWINGING TIME WITH THE NEW CITROËN C3

C3 Advert

Citroën’s latest TV advertisement – a fun film created for the launch of the new C3 – features the Company’s latest supermini having a ‘swinging’ time by the sea.

In the 60-second ad, a young couple sneak new C3 past a security guard and into a dockyard where they connect the car’s wheels to the cables of a shipping container crane – and then accelerate up into the air to create a giant swing.

Inside the cabin, the couple experience the extraordinary panoramic view through new C3’s unique Zenith windscreen – from a very original perspective.

New C3 is one of Citroën’s most fuel and CO2 efficient cars, and is the first production Citroën with a model emitting less than 99g/km of CO2. The sensational panoramic Zenith windscreen, which is 36% bigger than a conventional screen on an average five door small car, delivers an all-new motoring experience for drivers and passengers alike.

The TV advert airs from today – 14th December – and new C3 is ‘on sale’ from 15th January 2010, with prices starting at just £10,790 for the entry-level petrol model, rising to £16,140 for the range-topping 1.6HDi 110hp Exclusive.

CITROËN’S C3 PICASSO NAMED ‘SCOTTISH MPV OF THE YEAR’

Citroën’s C3 Picasso has been named ‘Scottish MPV of the Year’ at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards 2009.

The innovative C3 Picasso beat off competition from the Kia Soul and Renault Grand Scenic to take home the prestigious accolade. The Citroën compact MPV impressed the judging panel with its design flare, practicality, performance and economy – but it was the overall vehicle quality that ultimately helped it win.

The Scottish MPV of the Year success sits alongside honours from Auto Express, Top Gear, What Diesel and Fleet World, meaning the C3 Picasso has now picked up five awards in just eight months since its launch.

Stephen Park, of the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers said; “The C3 Picasso’s success continues Citroën’s winning formula in this category. After all, the C4 Picasso picked up the same award in 2007. We were particularly impressed by the 1.6HDi engine that provides strong, economical power and good overall performance.”

The C3 Picasso has also been short-listed for European Car of the Year 2010.

LOWER CO2, IMPROVED MPG & MORE CONNECTIVITY FOR CITROËN’S C3 PICASSO

Citroen HDi

The biggest small car on the road, Citroën’s award-winning C3 Picasso, is now even more functional and economical with the availability of a new optional Bluetooth® upgrade and a recent engine improvement that sees the funky MPV deliver sub-120g/km CO2 emissions for just £35 a year road tax.

Further improving C3 Picasso’s already impressive environmental credentials, the 1.6HDi 16V 90hp diesel engine has been re-homologated and, in VTR+ & Exclusive trim, now emits just 119g/km of CO2 (down from 125g). Consequently, both of these C3 Picasso models are now classified in VED band C – meaning an annual road tax reduction from £120 to just £35. Even more significantly, these models now deliver an extra 2.7mpg on the combined cycle, bringing the new figure to 62.8mpg.

Also on VTR+ and Exclusive – as part of a new option pack – an integrated Bluetooth® hands-free system has been introduced, so drivers can safely and easily keep in touch when they are on the move. This new option also includes a built-in USB Box and socket, which allows users to connect a portable MP3 player directly to the car’s audio system. Menu navigation and music selection is managed via the steering-mounted and dashboard radio controls, with song titles displayed on the radio screen.
