CITROËN’S C5 RANGE UPDATED WITH GREENER & LEANER PERFORMANCE

The 1.6HDi 110hp engine in Citroën’s C5 range has been re-homologated and now offers improved fuel efficiency, lower CO2 emissions and free first year VED.

These improvements affect all trim levels of the Saloon and Tourer that are powered by the HDi 110hp unit. Fuel economy, over the combined cycle, has improved 6% to 56.5mpg, whilst CO2 emissions have been slashed by 10g/km, from 140g to 130g. The changes bring these C5 models into the new VED Band D, qualifying them for free road tax in the first year. Company car drivers also stand to benefit, thanks to a 1-point reduction in BIK taxation rates – down to 18%.

Citroën’s C3 Picasso has been named ‘Best Family Car’ of 2009 by the Daily Express’ Motoring team.

Seeing off competition from the Skoda Yeti to take the coveted ‘Motoring Oscar’, Citroën’s innovative MPV – the biggest small car on the road – impressed the judges with its compact, purposeful exterior, combined with plentiful internal storage and flexible seating arrangement.

This latest accolade comes at the end of a hugely successful year for the C3 Picasso, adding to five awards already under its belt from the likes of Auto Express, Top Gear and What Diesel.

The Daily Express, said, “The new C3 Picasso is a great family alternative to the new breed of cross-overs. Better still, it’s well built and excellent to drive too. Forget just winning in this category, the C3 Picasso was one of the best cars of 2009, period.”

Citroën’s C3 Picasso has been named ‘Scottish MPV of the Year’ at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards 2009.

The innovative C3 Picasso beat off competition from the Kia Soul and Renault Grand Scenic to take home the prestigious accolade. The Citroën compact MPV impressed the judging panel with its design flare, practicality, performance and economy – but it was the overall vehicle quality that ultimately helped it win.

The Scottish MPV of the Year success sits alongside honours from Auto Express, Top Gear, What Diesel and Fleet World, meaning the C3 Picasso has now picked up five awards in just eight months since its launch.

Stephen Park, of the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers said; “The C3 Picasso’s success continues Citroën’s winning formula in this category. After all, the C4 Picasso picked up the same award in 2007. We were particularly impressed by the 1.6HDi engine that provides strong, economical power and good overall performance.”

The C3 Picasso has also been short-listed for European Car of the Year 2010.
