Hi all,

Only had the T5 a week and ive got the bug, having it in with my mate for a remap and was wondering if anyone else has done anything to a t5???

Any tips would be good although I assume its pretty much the same as a normal PD engine???

The T5 in my head has the following.

Mild re-map, it's never going to be a racer.
Lowered a tad, not slammed, wheels just below the arch edge.
Lamdo or Bentley wheels - I know they've been done to death in the VDub scene, but I still like them.
Interior smartened up to cover the sea of grey plastic, maybe an alcantara trimmed dash, nice seats from an Audi or something, nice carpets.
Back trimmed out to be a very basic camper, no fitted furniture, so it can still be used as a van.

As for paint, a light metalic colour, the silver used on the Audi A8 or a light champagne colour.

All I have to do now is find the massive budget needed for that :(

Thats a nice lookin Caddy, nearly went for one of them but needed the size of the T5.
Hopefully when my mate remaps mine it might run a bit more economical, its brilliant when the missus drives it but my lead right foot
Dunno about resprays n stuff but deffo will be after nicer drivers seat.

Bronze alloys? Sounds interesting but think ill get some Sportline alloys for now, standard VW stuff.

My plans are:

Removable back seats.
Sliding Side windows with privacy.
(both booked in already)
Rubber lining.
Double din DVD/SAT NAV with multi screens.
New speakers and possibly a sub.

Remap and maybe egr delete and de-cat???
Chrome side step bars.
Rear Tailgate Spoiler.
Color coded bumpers.
Caravelle grille and lights.
Caravelle rear lights?

Not sure on the engine mods, want to be honest with the insurance but im having my hat nailed on anyways!

Last but not least a propper surf board attachment for my shiny new rhino roof bars..

Newquay here i come!!!

I'm confused because the thread title has 2.5 and PD130, which is a 1.9 engine. Which engine actually is it as the 2.5 TDI isn't a PD engine. :)

You had me going there!

Yeah as far as I know there is the original 1.9 pd, a 2.0 pd, a 2.5 pd (104, 130 & 174) and the newer 1.4 pd. Not sure if theres a 1.6 though???

Its a hell of a lot noisier than my 1.9 Bora, but its a van innit?

Yeh there is 1.4,1.9,2.0,2.5

Not sure about the bigger audi engines, and yes the PD lumps are noisy compared to other diesels such as Renault DCi because there Common Rail engines

It will be a 2.5 tdi 131 bhp, they are a lot noiser than the 1.9 tdi which are 84/86/102 and 105bhp.

You should get around 6 mpg improvement from what I have been told, good increase in power, but better still put the 174 turbo on it and with a custom remap go easy over 200bhp  which will make it easier to drive with those huge wheels that you can get for them lol, I am sure the last guy had some 22" or 24" rims on it and it looked very smart.

Those caddy wheels look a bit Focus ST or Astra VRX???

And as for the noise, call me thick but, I was worried that it sounded a bit errr, like a van???

Its well noisier than the bora and I was wondering if there was a problem with the box or crank etc. Just had it serviced (proper oil) so assume all is ok.

It was just out of its warranty and even though it was ex-fleet and im sure it would have had it done the cam belt will be getting done with its first MOT in september, bet thats gonna be an arm and a leg!

So how much for a remap then??? Keeping the mods sensible for now.

yeah right!......

went to Tatton park last sunday , some very very nice t5 ,s there ....fook me the cost of them is through the roof. Had a look at a guys brand new Calafornia model , £40,000.. £40,000     , you can buy a house for that. i went home in disbelief only to find some 2006 one with 13,000 miles up for £30,000  , even a shitty van with 60 million miles on the clock in need of conversion was £3500   im just shocked. there nice but not that good. and if your thinking of only spending say £10,000 you get a right load of rubbish thats about 15 years old. think ill stick to camping.

New school all the way,

went to get my rear seats and side window fitted at a place just outside Solihull, Wagencraft theyre called, there was a couple of nice t5's there.

Mine wont be a full on conversion as itll be used daily for work aswell but still want it to be nice.

Really dont see how some of these old t1's and 2's are worth that much, my house was only 70k! madness. theyre nice but i'd be scared to wreck them or put my foot down.

And dont believe i missed th vw thing at tatton park! doh!
